How "Breeds' Standards in the showrings are achieved like the Rhodesian Ridgebacks & German Shepherds etc are affectin their general health GREATLY.

Altho I'm glad that some breeds which are not-in-demand by the market are not that affected compared to the more popular breeds.

Altho it's quite a bias video (in my opinion), there're still many responsible KC breeders out there whom provide Health Papers as well as relatively healthy puppies. Do be very very cautious of wat kinda toys you guys r actually purchasin for us! Actually I'm kinda scared now (note dat i'm never a scardy-cat)... It is til this date, that I fully grasp the reason behind why Mom doesn't buy so many toys for us. M***h Me*** fails us yet again

So Mom & I collected the photos last night @ 9.30pm.

OMG, the super 8Rs were HORRIBLE................................ the workmanship was simply beyond words. Look @ the edges of the 4 super 8Rs photos below..

Now, the best thing here is, for the 4 extra 4Rs pix which were added onto the album, Cotton's face was editin into SNOW WHITE! Just look @ the contrast comparin to the next picture juse below that page!!

Mom mentioned to her that the browness can be lighten a tad more. But NEVER once did she mention make her face SNOW WHITE! All of Mom's friends whom were present that day heard it.

So Mom will be askin M***h to re-do!!!!

Another best part is, she duplicated another extra 4R pix of Cotton!!! It was suppose to be replaced by another different pix! So Mom said y is there another Extra?? M***h was shocked, sayin she did not see the pix being in the album already. OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD.

The pix was juz 2 pages apart!! & she missed it!!! She was guilty of cuz for her carelessness. So she told Mom that we can bring down the album whenever we're free & she'll print the different 4R pix & mount for us on the spot.

So Mom told M***h over the phone that NO FREAKIN WAY we're gonna accept this quality of work after the price we paid. Guess wat??? M***h turned the table around on Mommy!!! Sayin its becuz MOM RUSHED HER!!! So she had to source for another printin company to print for us the Super 8Rs asap & thus, mayb they didn't do a gr8 job on the photos.

Mom was shocked! So Mom replied that the job was HORRIBLE! & Mom definitely did not rush her! She was the one whom promised Mom the dates! Mom was only askin her to abide by her promises!!! HOW IRRESPONSIBLE TO SAY WE RUSHED HER!!!

Even if we did rush her (WHICH WE DID NOT!), does that give M***h Me*** the right to give us SHITTY WORKS?!?!?!?!

If ur wonderin how she promised us that day, please refer to older posts regardin M***h Me***. Mom has 2 of her friends as witness that day when M***h promised Mom a date. WE DEFINITELY DID NOT RUSH HER @ ALL!

Mom will be askin for a full refund on the Super 8Rs later. No point redo-in & redo-in etc. They have no heart to do it nicely for us. No point @ all. All of Mom's friends suggested a refund instead. Seriously...... no point redo-in when they do not have the heart & soul to serve us @ all.

Mom also asked if her usual printer will do a SMOOTH & PRESENTABLE finishin. She mentioned Yes they always do a very smooth finishin. But we'll have to wait 2-3 weeks as they're very busy wit her other printins.

Since M***h mentioned her usual printin co. always does smooth & clean-cut finishes, we simply DO NOT understand how she had the cheek to submit such HORRIBLE & NONSENSICAL works to us! WE R PAYIN CUSTOMERS FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We thought bout it, no point waitin & waitin, cuz mayb we'll still be unhappy wit the work later. NO POINT.... its been nearly 2.5mths since my birthday & shoot on 28th March. We're all very sick & tired of these crap from M***h Me***.

M***h Me*** replies Mommy, Me replies back

Mom sent an SMS to M***h Me***. After thinkin for awhile, she felt it was the rite thing to do.

Mommy: "Just to let u noe, I'm really very disappointed that the pix are never delivered on time as u always promised. I really dun wish to make a big fuss outta it, but just thought i should @ least let you noe. I paid u the full amt that day hopin they will be delivered last Wed as you promised the other time. But its been delayed for many times already. My family hasn't seen the pix as I prefer to let them c the final pdt together. I really hope u wun disappoint me again altho' I'm quite numbed already. I just think I should let u noe how I feel as a cust since I spent NEARLY 500bucks on this shoot as a present for Velvet's 3rd Birthday. It's the disappointment dat upsets me time & time again.

M***h Me*** replies: "I really understand. And will do my best to get ur photos to you as promised. It's just that once I finish editing the photos I'm also at the mercy of the printers to get it to me on time otherwise im also caught in the middle between u & them. Be rest assured that I'm doing my best as I value ur feedback that's why we've even made special arrangements to go down to your area to pass to you so that it is as convenient as possible for you.

ok firstly, if you've read ALL the previous posts, how many of the delays are due to the printer being late???? Outta the FIVE DELAYS, I'd say, only ONCE is due to the printer's side. The rest are all late due to her INEFFICIENCY & ATTITUDE towards us as paying customers!

Of cuz she has to get our photos to us as promised. What crap is she tokin abt? If she's not gonna giv us our photos ULTIMATELY, then what the Fish are we payin for?? for CRAPZ tok????

Of cuz she has to come deliver to us, considerin she has delayed everythin for FIVE TIMES may i repeat??? It's not assif we're livin in Johor.

Plus, she promised us that Super 8Rs will be delivered on last Wed (May 28th). Then delayed til the weekend, then later delayed til Tues night (tmr), then now delayed til Wed night!! She can slowly manipulate her way to delay from a couple of days to ONE WHOLE WEEK!!!!! SEE HOW POWERFUL THEIR TACTIC IS????????????????

Morever, I dun believe the printing side can cause SO MANY delays. They have been workin in-line with their printin side for YEARS, so plz dun give Mommy craps like, "the printin side is slow". That is SO NOT OUR PROBLEM! If ur printin side is lousy & SO inefficient, go work with a new one!

Mom's reply: "I understand dat & appreciate u guys comin down. But because u always promised & r confident wit the dates, n fail, which rily upsets me as my friends whom have been wantin & expectin 2 see the final pix but again & again they can't, includin my family as I prefer to share it once I get everythin. All of them r very disappointed as its already 2.5months past Velvet's birthday. They've also been tellin me 2 seek compensation (softs) frm all the many delays which by far, I chose to not bring it up hopin that, that would be the final date. I can't go down again n again cuz I have my own groomin schedules too as well as other stuffs goin on. So I hope u understand overall.

M***h Me***'s reply (after 2 hours 15mins): "Yes I understand. And I appreciate your patience and feedback. We'll definitely take your comments seriously and look into improving our service to you."

Me, Miss Velvet the alpha Bitch hereby replies to M***h Me*** in MY blog here (since i've no fingers to type SMS-es like Mommy) : "NO MORE BIZ FROM US TO YOU! NOT IN A MILLION FISHY MEATY YEARS!!!!! YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A CHANCE TO SHOOT BEAUTIFUL ME AGAIN, NOR SHOW MOMMY HOW YOU'VE IMPROVED! RAWR!!!!"

M***H Me*** FAILS us for the 5th time!

Remember M***h Me*** agreed to delivery the Super 8Rs to Mom by Wednesday (28th May)? Then she changed to the weekend (31st & 1st June)? She PROMISED!!!!

Well, apparently, AGAIN she FAILED to deliver!!!!!! It's the FIFTH TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From March 28th (my birthday) til now I still haven't gotten my PRESSIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She called on Sunday night & said that she has collected all the photos, BUT, the printer FORGOT TO LAMINATE the Super 8Rs!!!!! So she'll have to go back to them on Tuesday as they're closed on Monday, so she can only deliver to me on Tues night! But since the 4Rs are ready, she can come & deliver those to me that first (later @ nite), n the super 8Rs on Tuesday nite.

So Mom said ok, deliver the 4Rs to us 1st. So later on Mom asked how is she gonna paste the 4Rs into the album. So M***h decided that mayb she can come down & collect the album from Mom so she can mount the remainin 4Rs nicely in the album for us. So Mom agreed.

Then, we agreed to meet @ 10pm on Sunday night. Since Mom & us were out, we managed to get home b4 10pm. It was agreed over SMS that we meet @ 10pm!

When Mom & I were ready to leave the house, Mom decided to call her @ 9.55pm if she has reached. Guess wat??? She told Mom she was still @ Home!!! Said she will leave the house in 5mins time. So in the end to cut the long story short, she reached here @ 10.40pm when the agreed time was 10pm. Mom was really tired but still, she did not flare her top @ M***h.

So it'd mean that we'd FINALLY get ALL our photos tmr nite rite??

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M***h Me*** juz called Mom 8mins ago tellin her that she'll be havin a photoshoot for FIVE dogs tmr in the evenin & that it might end as late as 1am!! So its best to deliver to us on Wed NITE.

SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't the shoot have an appt?!?!??!?!?!?!!? If so y did she promise us n fail us TIME N TIME AGAIN?!?!?!?! its the FIFTH TIME for goodness sake!!!!!!!

So Mom said to her, "if u managed to finish the shoot earlier say 11pm, u can still deliver rite?" she replied sayin, yes if the dogs r easy to shoot.

Seriously We are ALL VERY tired of waitin & waitin. So Mom told her its been so long & we wanna get it all asap as our family hasn't even seen the pix!!!!

So M***h apologized & said that she dare not promise Mom anythin anymore should she fail again on Wed nite. ARGHHH can someone please tell us what kinda service is this?!??!?!?!!?!?!?!?

We're goin to see whether they will fail us on WED NITE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're super super disappointed. Way beyond the word DISAPPOINTED itself. We hope for the best for the 5 dogs tmr that their fate will not end up like us, as its already been close to 3mths & we haven't even received our final products.

im so angry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HMPH!!!!

we hate M***H ME***

Once again, WE HATE M***H ME***!!!!!!! or rather.... MOM HATES M***H ME***!!!!

Ok, so we went along to collect the photos on 25/5/08 (sun). We reached later of cuz, as Mom was waitin for a friend.

The 4R album was not too bad. In fact, we're quite satisfied with it. It was fair. BUT, the $10 per image soft copy Mom paid for... was also in EXTREMELY LORES. 500 by 750pixels 100dpi. So Mom & friends tot no point payin SO MUCH for such low quality pix which can't even be blown up to 5R wit PERFECT sharpness & clarity.

Mom's friend asked why she couldn't give higher pixels or higher dpi (either one). She mentioned that its to PROTECT their copyrights. So he went on by sayin ok, so 300dpi to you is commercial, why not give us 200 to 250dpi? Guess wat??? She continued by sayin... "oh....no, we can't do that, cuz then it'll be the same as 300dpi already." So, its clear that she failed Math cuz 200 is definitely NOT = to 300.

Then she went on by sayin it wouldn't be fair to other cust if she allowed me to hav 200dpi. NO cust has EVER complained bout the quality of her Softs. So I was thinkin in my mind... what's so "not fair" when NO cust has ever complained? Obviously, cust hav complained b4 & she didn't comply to their demands for higher res softs, which is exactly why it'll be UNFAIR if she gave it to me but not them! GEDDIT? Do u get wat im sayin?

Thus, Mom decided to change it. Choose some nice pix outta the remainin Softs which she ordered previously, to super 8Rs photos. That way, even if its more ex, but @ least we can get sharpness & clarity rather than pay for such lousy softs & can't even print out nicely.

So in the end, we chose 4 pix to be blown into super 8Rs. 2 of the them are already in the album as 4R. So, M***H gave Mom an option, to choose another 2 different images to 'replace' the 2 already in the album. Rather, its an 'add on' as they won't be removed from the album anyways. Then, the other 2 super 8Rs which are not in the album, will be printed into 4Rs too to add onto the album. So dat means another 4 addition of 4Rs to the album, plus 4 8Rs.

M***H then agreed to deliver to our place as it's troublesome for us to keep travellin to n fro. They mentioned that it'll be on Wed night (today). As the printin shop is closed on Mon, she'll finish editin the further touch-ups for the 8Rs by Mon nite, then send to the printin shop on Tues, & geddit by Wed, lastly, deliver to me on Wed nite.

Then she called Mom earlier today. Sayin that it has to be DELAYED. So Mom was soooo sick of hearin that its gonna be delayed AGAIN, if u haven't already read my previous post right below this post. We all already had a feelin we ain't gonna get our pix by tonight.

So she went on to explain that its becuz she JUST FINISHED EDITIN the stuffs TODAY. She rang her usual printer, & they said they're gonna print it with their other batches of work, thus it'll only be ready TWO WEEKS LATER.

So Mom said "HUH! so long?!" So M***H agreed dat its a lil' long. Hence, she said she will source for another printin company. So we'll juz have to give her a few more days til the weekend (31st & 1st June). Becuz its another printin company, she'll need to discuss bout the 'colors' with them.

Oh btw, Mom has already paid the FULL amt on Sun, hopin that by doin so, she'll ups her work faster... & deliver the goods ON TIME. But sadly.... they've FAILED AGAIN & AGAIN!

Then, she told Mom dat she has undercharged us by $18. Sigh.... such perfect service huh. Havin delayed our goods 3-4 times already... she can't forgo the $18???????? Mom said that she shld in fact GIVE us the album's soft copies FOC!!! AS COMPENSATION!!!! From all those delays!!!

In the 1st place, if she ain't confident of deliverin the goods by that certain day, why keep sayin that she's confident that it will be?! So from TODAY til 2wks later, she ain't gonna produce any works for clients????? Seriously, we DO NOT believe her USUAL printin company will take that long to print only FOUR Super 8Rs pix. Why can't she pay them more for express service?????????? When we already paid her SO MUCH?!??!?!

SIGH SIGH SIGH............................ every1, The 3 Furry Bitches seriously regret goin to them. It was suppose to be a nice birthday pressie for MY 3rd birthday on Mar 28th! Now I'm only gonna b gettin my pressie like..... 3mths after my birthday!!! OHHHHHH!!!!!!! WHAT IS DIS?!?!!!?!?!!?!

No words can express our disappointment by their service. We shall see if they'll keep to their promise & deliver to us by this weekend (31st & 1st June).

Major Disappointment

Sigh. Major Major Huge Sigh.

Remember my 3rd Birthday Photoshoot @ M***H ME***? Oh goodness, remember I told you guys the shots will be posted up 3 weeks later frm the shootin day? Sigh its sucha major disappointment.

Mom is pretty furious that the appt date got delayed not once, but TWICE. 1st they mentioned 3weeks later (from 28th Mar), which will be 18th Apr. So, Mom sms-ed M***H ME*** on 14th Apr as she had plans to bring us down to Earth Cafe as its situated quite near Munch. Then, they told Mom they'd need another 1.5weeks more as she ordered ALOTA photos (FYI, its juz 24 pix!). So, alright, it'd mean 28th Apr rite?

BUT, guess wat??? They sms-ed Mom AGAIN on 19th Apr sayin they'd need 10-14 days MORE... like SERIOUSLY?!?!?!??! How long do they need to edit 24 photos??

So Mom asked WHY izzit delayed AGAIN? Munch gave another excuse, sayin that her partner, is in Reservist for 2wks & thus, she'll be tendin the shop alone. OMG, for goodness sake, IF he has Reservist, shouldn't he receive the letter wayyyyy before March??? If so, WHY would she in the 1st place assure Mom that the photos will be done 3weeks later frm the shootin day???

So Mom was very furious of cuz. We were all so excited initially. As time went by WAITIN n WAITIN.... we were sick & tired of waitin.

Thus, WE decided to give them a dateline now instead! By 3rd May. Should they FAIL to deliver by 3rd May, we'd collect it in June. Sadly, they failed yet again.

BTW, did Mom mention they were ALWAYS late for appts??? On my birthday 28th March, they came 30mins later than us! Appt time was 1430. M***H dropped Mom a msg on her cell @ 1415 sayin they'd be a lil' late & that we could take our own time. @ 1415 which cust will still be @ home?? Any normal person would be already 3/4 on their way reachin there or ALREADY there! We were there @ 2pm as we had to run some errands. In the end, they reached @ 1455. We practically SAT there for 55mins WAITIN for them like they're the customers!!!

Nvm forget bout that, we thought it was a 1 off thing.

On 30th Mar, Mom's friend went wit her dog & birds for a photoshoot too. Of cuz we came along too! Guess what??? M***H was late for 20mins again!!!!!!

1 more late appt was when Mom's friend returned a 2nd time to re-select the pix again. They were late for 1/2hr again causin Mom's friend to be LATE for sch! Wat 'wondrous service'! I shall leave it to you to believe us anot for this... it was VERY poor cust service on their part!

Ok.... we haven't collected the pix yet.... as Mom is still rather furious thinkin bac... Why is she furious you might ask? hmm... lets take a look @ 1 of the pix of Mom's friend's furkid n featherkids.........

Looks normal n nice you might think? BTW, she paid EXTRA S$10 for Digital Imagin (D.I.) as all 3 subjects were taken individually & combined later into a pix. EXTRA S$10 means.... it should be done nicely rite?? HAH! THINK AGAIN!

Ladies & Gentlemen, plz tilt ur head right down to an angle bout 90 degrees to ur left, u can even try layin ur head down on ur computer table... & this is wat u get.... TADA...................

Firstly, the 2 birds aren't placed @ where the dog is lookin at. The above pix is simply usin Photoshop (Contrast & Brightness). The perspective is already all wrong. The rest, I believe the pix above would do the talkin already. How slidshod their work is.... yet, still chargin EXTRAS...

We've more to talk abt regardin the rest of the pix, like the LORES n pixels, 100dpi, 500pixels, 200kb file size (MSN display pix size!), & how they insisted this size can be printed into 5R photo with PERFECT sharpness, size & clarity! for S$10 PER IMAGE.

I think I'll stop here for now, I can see Mom's face is a lil' pissed again. She's VERY disappointed as this was supposed to be my 3rd birthday pressie.... & yet, we ended up payin so much, juz for an album of 4R pix, & 100dpi, 500pixels of soft copy images of S$10 each.

If u haven't noticed my previous photoshoot @ another photographer's, we paid VERY lil' for copyright pictures. M***H insisted that their copyright (hi res) pix would be $160 PER IMAGE, market rate. If so, I dunno why Mom paid 1/8 of that price last time for my pix.. hmmm....

Sigh.......

Speak No Nonsense

Mom is pretty pissed off wit some smart alecs today @ a CNY gatherin. Apparently, I was sittin on Mommy's lap while she was eatin on a bar table... & this relative, lets juz call him... 'ABC'. this ABC sat rite next to us & startin yakkin away to Mommy... sayin:

"ur dog (meanin me, Velvet), is a very dangerous & aggressive dog. she needs to be controlled in public." & Mom replied sayin no, im not an aggressive dog @ all as she off leahes me in beaches & erm... in huge greeny OPEN fields.

then, ABC went on n on sayin stuffs like, "u better nt do dat or ur gonna get SUED sooner or later as she's a really aggressive n dangerous dog." (oh juz FYI, wen i was bout a yr old & visited his place, he had the nerves to suggest to Mom to bring me to a vet to PLUCK off my beautiful white TEETH as they're soooo sharp & pose a DANGER to PEOPLE!)

Then Mom went on to explain that dangerous aggressive dogs DO NOT sit beside u like that so calmly. u'll be ripped apart already. & guess wat??? he IGNORED Mom! pretendin to get some food!!!!

Ok, the reason why he believe im SOOO DANGEROUS & AGGRESSIVE is becuz wen i was bout a yr old, his wife took off a chew toy off my mouth... & I was only tryin to grab it bac wit my mouth & somehow or rather, my beautiful sharp teeth scraped her hand.. n she got a wound. But I swear i DID NOT mean to bite her! I was only tryin to get my toy bac! Frm then on... his entire family deemed me as a SUPER AGGRESSIVE & DANGEROUS DOG who deserves to hav her teeth plucked out.

Then... the white one, Cotton, has a thing wit strangers whom she hasn't met b4. Becuz she is a timid timid lil' white thing, she has to be approached the CORRECT way. In a very CALM, dominatin authority. (Mom: U can see in the pictures below how fwenly she is to all my friends)

Also, she tends to be better behaved to strangers when they've their dogs around wit them.

& ABC's wife had to go around tellin ppl that Cotton is ANGRY wit her as she kept barkin @ her both yesterday @ today. Mom actually felt like tellin her dat how in the hell would Cotton be ANGRY wit her when she hasn't met her b4????

Us dogs live in the moment... juz FYI. we do not bear grudges like you sinful humans.

To say that Cotton is ANGRY becuz she is barkin @ her is akin to sayin that babies are all borned wit much ANGST as they're awiz CRYIN (same as barkin) wen dey're carried. It is also akin to sayin that lions attack deers becuz they're ANGRY wit the deers. Or that the wild bear attacked the hunter becuz it is ANGRY wit the hunter.

So on & so forth, u get the idea? Silly ain't it now that I've these analogies for u.

Please understand that dogs hav dogs' psychology juz like humans hav human psychology. If u dunno all these, please keep silly & ridiculous comments to urself.

Another thing is, ABC's younger daughter was strokin Cotton's fluffy fur... & asked her elder sis (dey're in their early 20s, mind u) to come feel it as its so thick n soft n fluffy. Then came the moment when Mom heard the elder sis' comment bout Cotton:

"eeee, see her face so scary."

(Mom: look... my bitches are NOT there for u to CRITICISE yea. it is NOT her fault that she is borned wit Entropion (an eye condition) that causes excessive tear stains & thus, stainin her fur. If ur even tinkin dat its becuz im lazy to clean her face... PLEASE for gdness sake google up the word "ENTROPION" yea.

Would you like it if i said y is ur kid soooo dark skinned while ur so fair??? eeewww ur baby's sooo ugly! so dark face! looks so grumpy & SCARY! oooo u luv it eh? i bet u do... since u so openly commented dat while im around.

& juz FYI, Cotton is NOT a "FIERCE" dog. she is a TIMID dog which explains her barkins to strangers. This is becuz when i 1st got her @ 3mths old, I happen to hav to undergo a surgery & thus, had to spend months recuperatin @ hm as it took very long for the pain to subside. even til now it still hurts every now & then. Thus, she missed those crucial months of her puppyhood time to socialize well wit strangers.

again, try to google out some dog behaviour sites yea... instead of sayin ooooooo cotton is sooo ANGRYwit me! (when she hasn't even met u b4). plz dun b ridiculous. now do u noe how freakin ridiculous you sound???

I received some very very very awful news today............... ;....(

Apparently Valen (the female Landseer) is gone............ juz so so sudden. To know more bout her & Laven (her partner), please refer here

I wouldn't say she's my best friend... cuz I haven't met her in AGES... but we did have many gd times together.

Sigh... apparently I think she had a lump on her foreleg, was limpin... & had red stuffs growin all over her body.. this was what Mom's friend told her...

The vet then cut a piece of the red stuffs to send it for tests & all. Then she bled NON-STOP & needed more blood. So Laven went to donate... & I think the day after or somethin, another dog also went along to donate.... However, she was gone... not even the vet knew she was gone...

It is gd in a sense that she went peacefully? Sigh... everythin was so sudden... & she's only bout 4 yrs old.......... a lil' too young to go ain't it.... sigh...

Valen... hav fun over @ rainbow bridge... runnin free in a large green pasture.... & bless Laven & ur fella Mini Schnauzers family... as well as all who loved you...

Has Singapore gone to the dogs?

Dog ownership has risen, with some owners being accused of 'insensitive' behaviour towards others

IT WAS JUST A DAY OF FUN for this owner and her dogs at Sentosa last month. But in the past two months, the Forum pages of The Straits Times have published at least eight letters about unleashed dogs on Sentosa, with many saying the canines are a danger, especially after an unleashed Siberian husky attacked a three-year-old girl in September. -- ST PHOTO: DESMOND LIM

EVERY dog has his day and for Bobo and Mia, that day is Saturday when they enjoy a splash-about at Sentosa's Tanjong Beach with their owner Lai Soon Leung.

The business manager unleashes the schnauzers before their swim despite a law that says dogs should be leashed in public.

Mr Lai, 43, shrugged and said: 'It's important for dogs to enjoy some freedom. My wife and I keep an eye on them and make sure they don't disturb anyone.'

That attitude has left some people barking mad, and others accusing pet owners of being irresponsible. The issue has become a bone of contention recently, partly sparked by an incident in September when an unleashed Siberian husky attacked a three-year-old girl at Tanjong Beach.

Matilda Sail required surgery on a partially torn ear and suffered other scratches and bruises.
In the past two months, the Forum pages of The Straits Times have published at least eight letters about unleashed dogs on Sentosa or dogs sitting on chairs at eateries.

Mr Stephan D�rrenberg complained on Oct 7 about 10 unleashed dogs on Tanjong Beach.
And on Nov 25, business development manager Ng Kwong Yee criticised the 'unhygienic' practice of letting dogs sit on coffee-shop chairs.

Even condominiums have not been spared the debate.

In October, residents of Richmond Park in Bideford Road shot down a management committee proposal that dogs should be put in trolley cages if taken outside.

Committee chairman David Chan said a Muslim cleaner had quit because pet owners failed to clean up after their dogs.

The angst over dogs in public spaces can also be put down to the fact that there are more dogs now, with the number of dog licences rising from 42,700 in 2004 to about 53,000.

And growing affluence means owners pamper their dogs more. Ms Eirene Phua, the owner of a two-year-old shih tzu, said: 'Pets have become a lifestyle. It is so common to see dogs and owners in public places nowadays.'

Owners know they could be fined up to $5,000 if they unleash their dogs in public but many feel some leeway should be given so pooches have space to run in Singapore's concrete jungle. Last year, AVA fined 150 dog owners for not leashing their pets.

Then there is the question of being sensitive to other cultures.

Ms Siti, a 21-year-old interior designer, says: 'My mother and I are scared dogs will run up to sniff us. It's also really insensitive when dog owners wash their dogs in open shower stations meant for humans.'

Owners have also been flouting a law that bars animals from establishments without licences for pets. The Sunday Times found three dogs seated on chairs in Holland Village at lunchtime last Saturday.

Businessman Frankie Chin seated his schnauzer in the alfresco section of Ya Kun Kaya Toast. The pooch, Bobby, also dines on an egg yolk placed in its own dog dish each time it visits.

Mr Chin, 51, said Bobby's feet were clean as it had been wearing shoes before being seated. But Mr Chin avoids halal eateries as he is mindful of Muslim sensitivities.

But 40-year-old banker Chris Chew, who owns a retriever, said putting a dog on a coffee-shop chair is inconsiderate.

Owners who flout the no-pets rule at establishments can be fined up to $2,000.

Forum letter writer Ng Kwong Yee thinks this is not enough. He wrote in demanding that the law also disallow pets within a certain distance of eateries. He said: 'I have nothing against pets but certain health and hygiene standards must be maintained.'

I think we're much cleaner than most people's butts. Most kids too. My Mom is afraid of kids. She has touched only prolly 1-2 babies in her entire life & never carried a baby before. I think mayb babies & rowdy kids should be leashed too.

Followin up on the Rotties' Attack news yesterday, things have seriously worsened today. In today's Straits Times Home pg 4, Mdm Kuar (owner of the 5 rotties) said, "It was the NATURAL INSTINCT of a larger dog, rottweiler or not, to ATTACK a smaller dog. And that was EXACTLY what happened."

SERIOUSLY!!!! This old woman has I tink like several BILLIONS of loose screws in her head!!! She has obviously worsened things so much! Now, more Singaporeans are gonna be SOOOO terrified of "BIG DOGS" because it is their "NATURAL INSTINCT" to attack!! WHAT NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention she AIN'T FIT to own any Rotties @ all!!!!! In this case, FIVE Rotties!! She has proven herself that she isn't in the right mind to own any dogs @ all since she has that ROTTEN THINKIN!!!!!

Punish the DEED, not the BREED!

Sigh, Singapore is definitely not a doggy-fwenly country @ all. To make it worse, there has been many incidents on dog 'attacks' recently. Most people are also not so friendly to us doggies. The most recent incident can be read @ Bear's Blog. He is a big big fwenly rottie whom's tryin to help his kind.



Mom also knows of a few other incidents as well, where the dog definitely suffered more severe wounds than the JRT incident in Bear's Blog. However, Mom has decided not to go into detail of the other stories as they may turn out quite controversial in our typical country.

Dear All,

I am sending this message out to all people here and on behalf of other working dog owners and responsible owners.

First of all, Please do not mistake those dogs for mine, as since this morning I have been asked this so many times. Because I too am a Sikh and I keep Dobermanns, and some people have confused me with those irresponsible dog owners.

Second, there are a number of well behaved and bred Rottweilers and other breeds like Dobermanns, GSD, Boxers in Singapore, which have lived peacefully with others and caused no problems.

There are also responsible owners like myself, who understand the breed well, and also train them and socialise them. I would never allow my male dobermanns unleashed at any time, and not near other dogs. Its their instinct and job to protect me and my family and friends against any other dogs or aggressive people . These are working dogs, companion and guardians. In fact, we do not even let 2 male dobermann adults together, in normal circumstances.

No doubt the Dobermann is far more intelligent than the Rottweiler, but we will be confused and mistaken as the same now - in fact, realise that now because of those irresponsible owners, all big dogs owners will face discrimination and possible abuse and AVA will come down harder on us. We already have to deal with a bad public image, muzzling laws, etc etc.. and those idiots simply just made it worse.

Accidents do happen, but its what happens after that matters. To say its not serious matter, and to brush it off does other big dog owners no good. I understand it was not done in purpose, but nonetheless, they need to be more careful and vigilant and offer compensations and apologies and make a statement for their dogs.

I fear for the dogs now.... having poor owners and now suffering for it.

I have handled, bred, shown and even rehomed Rottweilers before. I have seen extremely friendly Rotties, who are also Shutzhund trained and have IPO qualifications. I have met and handled all kinds of rotties. I can tell u its in the breeding and care, training and socialization. Do not assume all Rotties are the same, especially the locally bred ones from pet shops and farms.

The Rottweiler is a good breed, and the standard calls for a dog with a medium sharpness, temperament, and affection for owner and children. This is the correct Rottweiler, which would not have attacked another dog in a pack. So, please, before anyone casts judgement, please understand its not the Rottweiler breed at fault.

Punish the deed, not the breed

It is very unfortunate this incident happened. In any other country, honestly this is small news. Dogs fight, dogs bite, dogs get into trouble, and there are always irresponsible owners. But in Singapore, this is troubling news. Our press may make a big deal of it. Moreover, this is just what AVA needs to further restrict big dog owners here.

If somebody cannot understand the breed or handle them, then by all means, please consider another type of dog to have. To keep saying they are friendly and playful does no help to the breed. Every dog is friendly and playful. Every dog is territorial. Some more so than others. And traditionally, Rotties are used to protect farms, homes and estates, and they are defence-aggresion oriented.

But a well bred, trained, and socialized rottweiler, malinois, dobermann, GSD,etc would not attack a dog without grave provocation or command. So, end of the day, please dont assume all big dogs and working breeds are the same or have the same kind of instincts or mentality. Its a big part in the breeding, individual character and mostly the owner

Lastly... We all trust and sincerely hope that AVA will make decisions that are not based on public emotions, and not punitive....and "politically" correct moves. The recent measures are already restrictive enough.

I urge all dog owners and lovers to not discriminate against the Rottweiler and other big dogs.

It is not a misunderstood breed. its unfortunate their owners are the ones who misunderstand the breed themselves...]

I hope all dog owners will be more responsible. This isn't doin any good for us here, particularly of those breeds above. We definitely DO NOT want a Breeds Legislation here in future. & its also definitely wrong for the owners to shirk responsibilities when the poor other dog already sustained such serious injuries.

Sigh.......

Yes, its China again back with its business of the inhumane slaughterin of dogs & cats for food..delicacies to be precise.

Dogs are crammed so tightly together into tiny metal cages they cannot even bark. Yards away the blood-spattered carcasses of others lie on the ground.

This is Three Birds' Market in Guangzhou, China, officially described as a poultry market.
But, as these exclusive pictures show, many traders on the 60-acre site are doing brisk business selling dogs and cats to restaurants for slaughter and human consumption.

"...when an animal is chosen for sale it is bludgeoned with an iron bar until it is close to death before, being handed over to the purchaser. "


"The customers want fresh 'live' meat," said Huang Lu Sheng, one of the stallholders.

"When the dog dies slowly there is much more flavour in the meat. Some customers want the dog half-dead.

"Then the taste is very strong and they can prove to their customers that the meat is really fresh.

"I do not care about the dog suffering. It is only to eat and the customer is the one that chooses how it should die. (I say we cook the damn customers instead!!!!!!!)

"But most customers actually want the dog beaten to death and put in a plastic bag. It's easier to carry like that."
