Finally... very ecstatic that we've completed our Advanced Rei-ki (RII) after a long wait of 6 months after our Basic Rei-ki (RI) (please read our RI blog-post first to have a better understanding of Usui Rei-ki) on May 2013. And now we're so looking forward to sit-in in next year's Rei-ki seminars, again! Once we're part of the network, it's a lifetime free sit-in for Rei-ki seminars anywhere in the world (HK, SG, AU and USA) to either recap or simply to listen because every batch of students is different and this is a good opportunity for us to get in more info. regarding health issues from our Teacher.
It is quite a high monetary (S$3440 in total for my bf and me) and time investment overall. But am happy we've completed it. (This is just for my own record, we paid S$745 each for R1 (UP S$895). We paid the 1st Early Bird Discount (EBD) of $745, 2nd EBD at S$795 and 3rd EBD at S$845 and S$895 thereafter. Duration wise for R1 was a 2.5 days period from 3rd May (Fri) 6pm to 11pm, Sat 9:30am to 8:30pm and Sun 11am to 10am. But those hours usually stretch till about 1130pm to 12 mn. For RII only a max of 20 students is allowed and it's a higher investment of S$975 each (UP S$1175) for 1st EBD. 2nd EBD was S$1025, 3rd EBD S$1075 and 4th EBD S$1125 and S$1175 thereafter. Duration for RII is a 3-days evening from 19th Nov (Tue) 6pm to 11pm, Wed 5pm to 11pm, and Thurs 5pm to 11:30pm. A full review of RI right before RII is compulsory and a prerequisite for those proceeding to RII as RII is a quantum leap.
In RII, intuitive communication (also commonly known as animal communication) is covered as well. I've taken Animal Communication (AC) back in 2009. I also knew about Rei-ki then but what I knew of it then was all the WRONG information. I'm very glad 4 years on Rei-ki has found me. A friend once told me Rei-ki is all about affinity. I'm so ever more glad that I've been introduced the correct and pure Teacher, Keven Duff for my Rei-ki attunement. Finding the right Teacher is very important otherwise, you won't know where or what energy you're drawing from and this could lead to either no effects or dire consequences if one is attuned by an unorthodox Teacher. My friend, before going to Keven was attuned by another Rei-ki Master and in the end after going to Keven, she realized she did not have full access to the energy prior to that and the feeling/effect after being attuned by Keven was different. So if you wish to do Rei-ki, do google Keven Duff and go to her or the other authorized Teachers within the network, or Keven's Teacher Barbara McGregor who is also the Head of the Usui Rei-ki Network who is based in the US.
Now regarding intuitive communication using RII, a friend's friend who is very gifted in AC says that using RII to plug in is definitely easier and more accurate. She's just relying solely on RII now to connect and no longer using the AC method. Which I find it true too. Beyond accuracy, I feel we're at a Higher Level during communication because we connect to a much Higher Level of the subject. And using RII, we're also able to plug in to anything and anyone from humans to animals to inanimate objects to electrical appliances etc. I recently plugged in with a friend's dog when she told me he has a lump on him without specifying where on his body to me. So in the end I verified with her and it was on the exact spot I told her. Overall, I feel that AC is more based on your gift to communicate, sure AC can be self-taught and anyone can do it, but ultimately, how good/accurate one is at it depends alot on one's gift. Whereas intuitive communication in RII basically enables you to plug in very easily and be more in tuned with the subject whether you're gifted or not.
Regarding how one receives info from the subject or what others call psychic abilities, is very personal with every individual person, and that's basically through our five senses:
(1) Clairvoyance (Visual/Clear Seeing)
(2) Clairaudience (Hearing/Clear Hearing)
(3) Clairsentience (Clear Feeling)
(4) Claircognizance (Clear Knowing)
(5) Clairalience (Clear Smelling)
(6) Clairgustance (Clear Tasting)
In accordance from best to worst, I'm personally more of a (1 and 2 on par), followed by (4) and then (3). I don't get (5) and (6) till now even while using AC to communicate since 2009. But back then I was more of (4), now after using RII to plug in and communicate, I'm definitely more of a (1 and 2) followed by (4) and lastly (3). I guess Rei-ki helped unleash/develop my visual and audio aspects. I see and hear alot followed by a sense of knowing and lastly, through feeling. A friend of mine told me with lotsa practice using RII, she can now see the surroundings of her subjects when she wasn't able to before. We will also be more in tuned with our intuition in our everyday life. For ie days after my RII, I had to park my car behind a lorry for a quick drop-off. Just seconds before I got outta my car, I had a vision of the lorry driver getting unto his lorry and driving off. So I thought oh shit I'm in his way. So I rushed through my drop-off as quickly as I could and when I stepped outta the lift towards my car, the exact vision that I had happened and the driver was even wearing the same shade of color tee-shirt in my vision. So we kinda drove off together simultaneously. Small lil' wonders like that, but all the same level of amazement to me.
Now regarding permission to plug in to either communicate or send (distance) healing energy, there is absolutely NO NEED to seek permission from anyone, any animals or anything. I know most ppl are very particular about this permission issue. But you've to understand and respect free-will which is what intuitive communication and Rei-ki is all about. So far I've only known of two Teachers who do not require this permission aspect - Marta Willians (AC) and my Teacher Keven Duff. I guess until one requires permission to love, one does not require permission to rei-ki or communicate, because rei-ki is love.
I've posted before in my AC post back in 2009 regarding a ''permission post'' by Marta Williams. I'll repost it here again:
To talk or not to talk…
Aug 14th, 2009 by Marta
There seems to be a question about whether it is OK to talk intuitively with an animal without permission from the animal’s person. Some say it would be unethical to do this. However, wouldn’t animals, like humans, have free will and the ability to refrain from talking to someone if they so chose? I wouldn’t go to the husband to ask if I could talk to the wife, I would just talk to her if she wanted to talk to me. I don’t consider that he owns her. Is the assumption here that animals are not on a par with adults humans, but rather more like very young human children? Hmmmm. I don’t think that is the way most communicators experience the animals they talk with.
If the point of this proscription is to keep people from doing something negative to an animal, saying something upsetting etc. then the advice should be something like, ‘Always strive to do your best, and work toward the highest good of all concerned.’ And maybe you could add in, ‘And it’s probably best to talk with an animal with the person’s knowledge, but if there is a need to go directly to the animal, then OK.’
When might that be the case? What if an animal is being abused or is obviously really confused by the person. Wouldn’t it be OK then to talk to the animal to try to help in some way? What about wild animals, whose permission are you supposed to ask for there?
I’d say this whole issue needs a bit more examination. I for one have talked to many abused animals without getting permission from the people who were abusing the animals. I hope I helped them. In some cases I know it helped and we were able to rescue the animals. Your thoughts?

Everyone has free-will, even inanimate objects. No one is owned by anyone. So going by and respecting free-will alone, there is absolutely no need to seek any permission from anyone. The animal/human/object will simply choose not to speak to you if they don't wish to, which is according to my Teacher, very rare. Same with giving/sending Rei-ki energy, no body (I literally mean the body) will ever reject the energy. Keven says its a 99.99999999999999% that the body will be yearning for the energy. And for those who outright reject the energy verbally saying things like Rei-ki is from the devil that it's pure evil etc, all the more she'll keep sending the energy to them because these are the ppl who needs it the most. And guess what, they're the ones sucking in absorbing the energy the most too.
So once we become RII channels, we kinda keep sending healing energy to whomever we wish to or if we feel extremely connected to help the subject. Keven's words ''Who's wasting their hands?!'' are really always what I hear when I do not rei-ki. So I'll then either do RII/RII on myself or simply send distance healing energy if my hands are more free. Also in RII, the potency of the energy flow is increased by up to 40% compared to in RI. So we get to retain way more energy while reiki-ing others and the subjects also get to absorb more and at a faster rate too of half the time needed in RI.
I can't share much regarding RII as it's a commitment we have to make to Dr. Usui himself and out Teacher to never reveal anything about it to non-Reiki channels. All I can say is I wish I knew about this back in 2009 and took Rei-ki with Keven instead of wasting money on AC. To me, AC is basically quite useless when it comes to emergencies. So what if you could speak to the animal, you can't send their bodies healing energy to ease their pain. Whereas in RII, we can not only do contact healing (in RI), but also distance healing for emergencies ie our friends' animals, or anyone overseas, even situations, relationships, we can rei-ki ANYONE and ANYTHING. There is nothing that we can't rei-ki in the Advanced Rei-ki. We will never feel helpless again with Rei-ki.
I guess personally, I just want to know that I've done all that I can in my capacity to help my animals age gracefully and/or go through their most difficult times in future... whether it's feeding them a 100% organic fresh raw diet or healing with holistic (energy) healing energy Usui Rei-ki or a drug-free (vaccines etc) lifestyle... I just want to know that I've done all I can to ease them. I couldn't do it with Lauryn personally, but I will and can do it now with Velvet, Cotton, Chewy and my syrian hamsters Cherimoya, her late Grandma Honey and Pitaya and who knows which other animals will come into my life in future.
It is often said that animals are our Teachers and all of them enter our lives for more reasons than one, mostly to teach us lessons. I guess in my case, Lauryn was here to lead me to Rei-ki right before her passing, Velvet and Cotton led to knowing about raw-feeding and subsequently to a raw vegan diet for humans, Chewy also led me to Rei-ki just like Lauryn did... if not for Rei-ki given from my friend to her, she would have gone under the knife under the merciless hands of a cruel vet and suffered tremendously. My hamsters to..... well, I don't know know how to put it into words yet for now with all the events happening to Grandma Honey just after I adopted her. I guess in the midst of it all, they just want to be with me and me with them. So take a moment to uncover what lessons your animals have taught or are gonna teach you in this lifetime. They play a huge part in my life and so will yours.
I try to rei-ki as much and as many animals/ppl or requests from friends. I did ask Keven if it's okay to request for a fee which will go towards an animal shelter of my choice. Her reply was it's absolutely okay to charge. But we've to let them know that they're not paying for the Rei-ki Healing Energy, what they're paying for is my time. It can take a long time to rei-ki, minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even years depending on how much energy the subject needs. I don't mean continuous non-stop as Rei-ki is a cumulative energy, but yes, alot of time is needed and time is precious. The more dis-ease (more on this word below) one's body is, the more healing energy one would require obviously.
Another important aspect of my Teacher's words which I'll always remember is to at least spend time to rei-ki our enemies once a month. Why? Because Rei-ki is all about Love. It's nothing about Power like many ppl are taught. It's a sacred love. I've come to figure that the time used to rei-ki our enemies could be used to rei-ki our loved ones etc. Why waste time on ppl who hate you? Because rei-ki is love. And all the more it's vital to send healing energy to those full of hatred and bitterness. It is the most wonderful gift we can offer to our enemies. I used to be full of hate too, but now I'm more in tuned and in depth with Rei-ki and what it's all about, and also metaphysics (how our mind/emotions cause dis-ease in us, DIS-EASE, literally), I'm learning to let go alot and most importantly, to forgive and hopefully in time, to forget, because negativity brings dis-ease in our body.
So this is why ppl have to understand that the Rei-ki energy cost nothing, what's costly is our time. There really is a huge difference and everyone should be clear about that. But of course friends know I've not charged them a cent and have no intention of. But in future if I should receive more requests from strangers/my customers to provide Rei-ki for them or their animals/family, I might have to charge a fee and probably 50% of it will go towards an animal shelter of my choice, because afterall, my time spent on others could have been used to Rei-ki my loved ones and my friends or their animals. Again, you're paying for our time and NOT the healing energy.
Now also comes the topic of which Rei-ki Teacher to choose. Keven not only teaches Rei-ki btw, but also colorpuncture, nutripuncture, muscle testing etc. How I benchmark this aspect is to simply look at the Levels offered by the Teacher. For Keven, there is only two levels in Usui Rei-ki, R1 (basic) and RII (advanced), period. Not to mention RI and RII cannot be acquired back-to-back. It's a 6 months window period for her. This is to allow us to feel and access the energy and since RII is a quantum leap, a longer window period is definitely required. The minimum age requirement for RI is 7 years old and 18 years old for RII because it requires a level of maturity to understand it. In my class, there's alota parents who sign up their young kids for the seminar. At my RII class, there were two siblings who took up RII 10 years later after their RI. For
Keven's network, there is NO Master Level offered because for Keven herself who's rather a rather bright and quick-learner (her background was biomed anthropology if i remembered correctly), she took 6 whole years (after her RI and RII) to acquire this Level to teach/attune others after being chosen by her Teacher Barbara. For Barbara, it took her 7 years. And it's also not a matter of money because you have to be chosen by them for this Level. There is absolutely no way one can be a Master in only 3 days or less as offered by many masters out there. So this is my benchmark... if one offers Master Level in a mere couple of days, I wouldn't trust that person at all. Or offering too many levels for monetary gains. Or offering RI and RII courses back-to-back. In RI of contact healing, it covers everything and everyone already from humans to animals to plants to inanimate objects. And in RII, distance healing and intuitive communication are covered. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone nor is it my intention to, but this is just what I feel and I hope to help others and my friends especially who may be interested in this practice whether its choosing the type of Rei-ki (there's many different forms of Rei-ki out there right now apart from the traditional and original Usui Rei-ki by Dr. Mikao Usui) or a correct Teacher. But of course feel free to google around and feel the connection with the Teacher first and the different types of Rei-ki out there before deciding on one. For me, I trust no other but my Teacher.
Another aspect of Keven that I truly admire is her knowledge on all things. She's very holistic growing up with a nurse for a mother. She never ate any cooked vegetables till she was about 18, all her veg are raw (blended or juiced). Altho she's not a vegetarian or vegan, she promotes raw food as much as possible for good health. No antibiotics/vaccines since she was a baby, etc. She has over 10 cats and they're all raw-fed, go to a holistic vet etc. In class, there's about 50 odd max of students in RI and there is NEVER a question she can't answer whether its regarding human health or animal health, basically anything! I'm quite awed by her knowledge. Altho her fees are very ex, double the price of most other Rei-ki Teachers out there, but it's totally all worth it and I'd do it all over again. And yeah i will lol since it's a lifetime free sit-in for her Rei-ki seminars! No I'm not getting a dime for promoting her at all, I'm just so thrilled I've completed RII and applying it everyday in my life. Most importantly, never to feel helpless again if any of my animals fall ill. BTW, my hamster Grandma Honey just passed away and we helped her transit with Rei-ki. Will blog about her passing later on.
Anyways after my RI in May, I still couldn't feel much of the energy, a lil', but not alot. But after RII, our channels are more opened and when I do contact healing on myself, it heals so fast within minutes compared to when I was only a RI channel. It's simply amazing when aches that would take days to go off would go off in a mere 10 minutes of contact healing. I even reiki-ed my period to arrive on a particular day that I needed it to and it came on the exact date. And with RII distance healing, the flow of the energy definitely feels very obvious.
Rei-ki truly works in the Highest Good of all concerned. One thing we've to keep in mind that Rei-ki does not change the will of the soul. If it is not the will or of the Highest Good of the body to heal, it will never heal no matter how much you rei-ki. And most importantly we've to always remember we're not healers. The healer is YOUR body itself. We're only channels for the energy to run through us, to your body. The one that is doing all the healing is your body with our aid. So when one doesn't heal with Rei-ki, we've to always remember this and not blame anyone. Rei-ki is not black magic where you can raise the dead. It is of a Higher Knowing Universal Energy. Why we can rei-ki inanimate objects or electronic devices is simply because every matter is made up of energy, they just vibrate at a different level. EVERYTHING on earth around us is made up of energy - even situations, relationships etc. That is why we can rei-ki just about everything and everyone.
If you'd like to know more please feel free to contact me! I won't be able to share anything about RII, but I'd truly advice everyone to be a Rei-ki Channel. You never know when you need the healing energy the most during times of crisis...
I'll share some pix of some books that I've. Note that these books are ''useless'' if you're not a Rei-ki Channel because you've to be attuned by a Teacher in order to have access to the energy. Rei-ki cannot be self-taught like AC.
One of the books ''The Reiki Bible'' I got from a Popular Expo Sale before I attended my RI seminar in May. It's quite good because there're hand positions in there which I can refer to. But most of the time I'm just applying what Keven taught us. The 2nd book ''The Reiki Healing Bible'' was given to my bf by his friend after our RII seminar. Again, it's just purely to read and we don't apply the stuff in there. The 3rd book ''Heal Your Body'' which is also my favorite, I bought from the book depository online. It's about metaphysics and I swear by it because my endometriosis condition that I had when I was only 20 was correctly ''described'' by my Teacher on my character which brought on the disease. I don't know if my jaw dropped in class when she described it, but I was amazed because it was 90 to 95% on the dot. I asked her about Cotton's mild arthritis and she was again quite spot-on regarding her character. So yes it applies to animals as well. That's when I truly believe in Metaphysics.
(update: a new book Living Reiki (discontinued i believe? bought at S$19 each locally) and an old book I bought in 2009 and dug it up: Animal Reiki. Animal Reiki is VERY good!!! for those who already are reiki channels and those who are getting to know reiki)
Some pages from Heal Your Body. You don't have to be a Rei-ki channel to understand/apply metaphysics in your life. Its a fairly thin, very understandable and reasonably priced book at only SGD6.98 with free shipping. Good for everyone to read and understand what's causing the dis-eases in your life and how to overcome them with good and kind loving thoughts to allow your body to heal itself. Take note of the word Dis-ease. It literally means Dis-Ease within the body causing dis-eases.
Our bodies really have the ability to heal itself given the right conditioning (the right food, exercise, etc) and mentality (metaphysics). For those who can't comprehend why our bodies have the natural ability to heal itself, go back to basics on how we heal so easily from cuts, bruises and scrapes (notice we always instinctively lay our palms over those injured areas too?). Those might sound minor, but the fact still remains that the body heals itself naturally without intervention (ie drugs, therapies, surgeries). Hence, for deeper dis-ease issues, one would naturally need to put in more effort ie raw vegan food (raw veganism has been known and proven to cure incurable diseases) , exercise, good air, meditation, metaphysics, etc. So yes, all we've to do is to research into holistic healing and try our best dig deep into the root of the problem for a permanent solution and do away with cutting up our bodies because it's only a temporary solution if one does not choose to solve the root of the problem.
Also look into english idioms and even chinese characters. How they're said or written tells alot. ie kick in the guts, gut wrenching, elbowing someone (if your elbows hurt constantly its time to look into someone in your life, on bended knees (bowing to authority), livid (sounds similar to liver that's why anger causes liver dis-ease) etc. It's all VERY interesting and so much to learn in order to free our body of dis-ease.
Some pages from The Reiki Bible:
From Living Reiki:
From Animal Reiki (recommended):
a story (in box above) that holds close to my heart. I can practically see myself in this story except that I wasn't in time to acquire Rei-ki before lauryn's passing (as the next seminar was over 6 months later) to aid n ease her in her transition as well as my own emotional well-being.
but now, im grateful to have acquired reiki for the rest of my animals (family, myself and other matters/living beings needing the healing energy). somehow I've come to believe that this was lauryn's purpose in my life - bringing me to reiki. reiki will never render anyone helpless in difficult times like these.
reiki also does not mean cure. however, it aids in the peaceful transition of the human/animal as well as provide calmness and acceptance to the grieving family members. if it isn't time, then yes reiki will provide healing for the Highest Good of the subject.
so if ur already planning to acquire reiki, my advice from experience is never delay because u don't know what holds next and it might be all too late for any regrets.
how Reiki improves/changes situations for the
better. even if the situation may not end up the way you wish it to, Reiki will always ensure its for the Highest Good for all concerned. |
And lastly, I hang all our certs up on the wall because there's Rei-ki energy in the certs. Apart from performing blessings on our home, I think the energy from the certs helps to bless the house too. And of course a constant reminder for me of the Five Rei-ki Ideals.
Words cannot describe how very thankful I am to be introduced to Rei-ki (apart from veganism) and I could only wish it had been sooner. But better late than never. Thanks Nat.
Once again, Rei-ki is NOT a religion and requires no belief/faith in it for it to work unlike religions. Once we're attuned, we will have full access to the energy exactly like our Teacher. Only difference is we can't teach or attune others like she does and of course needless to say her knowledge on health aspects and many other issues like interpretation of info. received from the subjects etc. The late Rev. Beth Grey was a minister in her church and she was gifted in connecting Rei-ki in the context of Bible verses.
''To dismiss Reiki as mere hocus-pocus is an insult to human intelligence.'' |
